What is Multi-Factor Authentication?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is going to be enforced on all @tcd accounts by 30 April 2024 to improve security.
MFA works by requiring a verification method to ensure the only person accessing your account is you.
You are required to add a phone number as a minimum requirement, but keep in mind that the Authenticator app is the recommended option by Trinity.
At a later date the authenticator app will be enforced as the MFA verification method, if you can set this up now it will save you time later on.
Set up your MFA
• Start by signing in to your @tcd account.
• Then go to this link: https://myaccount.google.com/security?hl=en_GB&pli=1
• Scroll down to the “How you sign in to Google” section and click the > icon next to “2 Step Verification”
• Follow the on screen instructions, to set up a phone number to receive a verification code.
• Click “Get Started” and follow the instructions outlined in the images below.
• Once you have Turned 2 Step Verification on, click the option “Authenticator” at the bottom of the “How you sign in to Google”.
• Ensure you download the mobile app for the Google Authenticator to your mobile device.
• Now click the option "Set up authenticator" button and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.
