How to export data using Google Take Out for Google Drive & Google Photos

What is Takeout

Google Takeout allows you to export data from your Google Workspace account to be stored elsewhere. 

If you have a large amount of data stored, you can instead transfer Email and Drive data using this help guide.

As your @tcd accounts will have Google Drive and Google Photos removed, you will need to remove data from these apps by 25th March 2024 for Google Photos, and 30th April for Google Drive.

With Google Takeout, you can export and download your data from the Google products you use, like your:

Email

Documents

Calendar

Photos

YouTube videos

Data about registration and account activity

Before you export data

Before you start exporting files we recommend using the link below to see how much data you have in your Google Drive. 

Check your Data here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/quota

You then need to ensure the location you want to move files to has the storage capacity based on how much data is in your Google Drive. 

When you are in Google Drive Delete any unwanted files to reduce the amount of data you need to export. 

How to Export your data

Sign into your @tcd account. 

Go to the Download your data page. Google products that have your data are automatically selected.

If you don’t want to download data from a product, uncheck the box beside it.

If you only want to download some of your data from a product, you may have the option to select a button like All data included. Then, you can uncheck the box next to data you don’t want to include.

Follow the instructions on screen to export your data.
